​AU Foundation appoints its first ambassador.

The African Union Foundation (AU Foundation) recently appointed Ambassador Carl Masters as its first official Goodwill Ambassador. Ambassador Masters, who originates from Jamaica plays an active role in African affairs and over the years built a strong relationship with progressive African bodies, with the AU Foundation being one of the organisations he contributes positively too.

African countries sets the stage to end AIDS, TB and Malaria by 2030: Adopt Africa Scorecard on Domestic Financing for Health

Ahead of the Meeting of the AU Summit in Kigali this month, Member State Experts  meeting in Ndjamena last week deliberated on the key fast track actions to end AIDS, TB and Malaria by 2030. This meeting follows the adoption of the Africa Health Strategy and the Catalytic Framework to End AIDS, TB and Eliminate Malaria in Africa by 2030. The meeting deliberated on the AIDS Watch Africa Progress Report for consideration by Africa’s Heads of State and Government. 

African Union set to launch e-Passport at the July summit in Rwanda

The African Union (AU) is to launch the electronic passport (e-Passport) at the next AU Summit tabled to take place in Kigali, Rwanda, in July 2016. This flagship project, first agreed upon in 2014, falls squarely within the framework of Africa’s Agenda 2063 and has the specific aim of facilitating free movement of persons, goods and services around the continent – in order to foster intra-Africa trade, integration and socio-economic development.
