The Twenty-Seventh Ordinary Session of the Assembly of the African Union (AU) in Kigali, Rwanda, ended on an extremely high note. It was hailed by many, including the Chairperson of the AU Commission, Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma as the best Summit ever.

​AU Foundation appoints its first ambassador.

The African Union Foundation (AU Foundation) recently appointed Ambassador Carl Masters as its first official Goodwill Ambassador. Ambassador Masters, who originates from Jamaica plays an active role in African affairs and over the years built a strong relationship with progressive African bodies, with the AU Foundation being one of the organisations he contributes positively too.

Press release: African Economic Platform launches during the AU Summit in Kigali

The African Economic Platform (AEP) has been formally launched at the 27th AU Summit in Kigali. The AEP, which will bring together African heads of state, captains of industry and academics to openly discuss the continent’s economic future and practical actions required in the implementation of priorities outlined in Agenda 2063, was adopted by African heads of state as a Summit Decision.

The African Economic Platform will be launched in Port Louis, Mauritius, on 14 – 16 April, 2016. Announced by the AU Commission Chairperson, Dr. Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma during the just concluded 26th AU Summit of Heads of State and Government, the African Economic Platform will contribute to fast track African economic transformation toward the realization of Africa’s Agenda 2063.
